Earlier in the year, Lorenzo G Morresi made his vinyl debut on Roots Underground Records with an EP that cannily joined the dots between deep house and broken beat. "Objet Melodie", his debut album, takes a far more widescreen approach, utilising a dizzying array of acoustic and electronic instruments – including some rather unusual, home-made ones to create tracks that eschew easy categorisation and display a wide range of global musical influences. Many of the tracks in some way touch on deep house, ambient, jazz-funk, electronica and tribal rhythms, but often only loosely. As a result, Morresi's musical vision is hard to pin down, though largely explores similar sonic territory to fellow Italians Nu Guinea.
