Pra Que Vou Recordar (Why should I remember?) is an MPB classic from Brazilian singer Carlos Dafé, a foundational figure in Brazil’s Black Rio Movement alongside Tim Maia, Hyldon, Jorge Ben, and others. Known as the “O príncipe do soul (The Prince of Soul),” Dafé was a pioneer in fusing American jazz and funk with Afro-Brazilian rhythms working with Dom Salvador on his classic 1971 album Som, Sangue e Raça and writing songs for numerous artists. The opening track on his debut solo album “De Alegria Raiou O Dia” is an all-time Brazilian soul bomb featuring euphoric Arp String Ensemble and Moog synthesizers
