Cedric "Im" Brooks was a Jamaican saxophonist and flute player, and an alumnus of the Alpha Boys School in Kingston. He's perhaps best known as a member of The Skatalites, the Mystic Revelation of Rastafari, and The Light Of Saba, and though he briefly considered joining Sun Ra's Arkestra, his return to Jamaica after the birth of his second daughter in the late 1960s would thankfully see him consider his music on his own terms, not under the wing of a larger-than-life cosmist (though it worked for some). 'Love & Praises', from an unknown era but probably made in the same breath as his 1978 'Praises' cut, is paired here with a new version by resident Pressure Sounds interpreter Dubism: a contrasting section of vintage joviality and heavier 'Dub Force'.
