12" Vinyl – EDITDUB15

One of the joys of the Edit & Dub releases – aside from the scalpel edits-meets-delay-laden disco dubs vibe employed by the shadowy producers behind the series – is the way that the selected material is often insanely rare and hard-to-find. That's the case on the label's latest offering, which delivers deliciously percussive, dubbed-out revisions of sought-after cuts from an obscure outfit called The Freex Machine. The A-side '12:20 Mix' is an epic take that strikes a perfect balance between groove-based dub disco heaviness and delay-smothered disco-funk hedonism. Track two, the '1980 NYC Disco Dub' has a more driving (but still groovy), organ-rich feel, while the EP-closing '1978 Instrumental' is a sweaty, percussion-laden disco-funk smasher with added early morning dancefloor grit.
