7" Vinyl – PASTDUE024

Later in 2025, Still Music offshoot Past Due will release a deep dive into the archives of disco and boogie musician/producer Richie Weeks. To get us all in the mood, they've decided to offer up this seven-inch featuring two takes on 'What's In It For Me' by Hot Cargo, an outfit Weeks originally assembled for Salsoul Records in the early 1980s. Neither version – or anything by the band, in truth – was released back then, making it genuine buried treasure. Available in 'short' and (superior) 'long' mix variants, 'What's In It For Me' is a prime chunk of slap-bass sporting, synth-heavy boogie of the sort more often associated with Prelude Records and Salsoul signed act Aurra. If it had been released in 1983, as intended, it would likely be considered a genuine NYC boogie classic.
