1LP Vinyl – JB006
A rare and highly underrated album recorded at the height of the Brazilian Bossa Nova movement with the genre's finest musicians.
First Official Reissue since 30 Years.
Recorded live in one session at age 18, this album help launched Tania Maria's career as an acclaimed Brazilian jazz artist with her virtuoso combination of piano and vocals.
Produced by Romeo Nunes (Meirelles E Os Copa 5, Rio 65 Trio, Elis Regina, Elza Soares…) and featured the legendary Edison Machado on drums. Known as "the real samba drummer."
Machado transformed samba and was instrumental in developing bossa nova through his pioneering "samba no prato" (samba on the cymbals) technique, shaping the sounds of Jobim, Getz, and Nascimento.
On guitar was legendary Brazilian musician Neco, who played on over 500 albums. Though initially self-taught, he later studied with maestros Guerra Peixe and Moacir Santos. He worked with icons like Elis Regina and Chico Buarque, and was a member of Os Ipanemas, Os Catedráticos, and Os Gatos.
His solo work includes Velvet Bossa Nova (1966), which became an acid jazz favorite.
The album features compositions from Caetano Veloso and Marcos Valle, alongside early samba classics. Blending Brazilian rhythms with samba, bossa nova, and jazz fusion elements, it showcases the early development of Tania Maria's signature style.
