1LP Vinyl – FYR033

Here is the long awaited new album from The Grand Magoozi (Susie Scurry), their first since the self titled 2016 debut. Recorded with Jesse Williams (Girlatones, Leah Senior) at an ex-raspberry farm in regional Victoria, you can hear that Susie is feeling the comfort of familiar friendship, many of her backing band having played music with her since she began. They know her so well and they’re all relaxed and following her into these new narratives, the playing often atmospheric as well as melodic. Many of the songs were recorded without the band having ever heard the songs before and some of that magic is beautifully captured on this record, Tropic of Capricorn.
