V/A – Merritone Rock Steady 1: Shanty Town Curfew (Dub Store)
V/A – Merritone Rock Steady 2: This Music Got Soul (Dub Store)
Ken Khouri’s Federal Records gave Jamaica its musical identity The Federal Record Manufacturing facility was the first pressing plant in Jamaica… their studio gave birth to mento, ska, rock steady and reggae of the highest calibre.

These two essential albums showcase a stunning selection of well known hits, and not so well known rarities, from the vast Federal catalogue. All tracks have been transferred direct from the master tapes and assembled with the invaluable assistance of Ken Khouri’s son, Paul Khouri, who generously gave Dub Store unlimited access to the Federal tape vaults. The extensive liner notes feature extracts from extensive interviews with Paul Khouri whose knowledgeable recollections of working on Marcus Garvey Drive, not only as a producer but as an engineer and musician, are illuminating and educational. Both sets present an insight into the birth and growth of Federal Records and the Jamaican recording industry and are essential to an understanding of the real roots of reggae music.

Bunny Wailer – Solomonic Singles 1: Tread Along 1969-1976 (Dub Store)
Bunny Wailer – Solomonic Singles 2: Rise & Shine 1977-1986 (Dub Store)
At the same time that Neville ‘Bunny Wailer’ Livingston recorded his debut solo long playing masterpiece, ‘Blackheart Man’, he was also creating a series of singles for his own Solomonic label. These records were every bit as good, at times even better, but they have never been released outside of Jamaica. Until now…
It is next to impossible to ever overstate the importance of The Wailers to the history of Jamaican music and, as the last surviving member of the group, Bunny Wailer rightly regards himself as the sole keeper of their history ever mindful of the group’s exalted position in the story of reggae music and the importance of their legacy. In 2010 Dub Store were proud to be able to work with Bunny on re-releasing a selection of his earliest recordings for the Solomonic label, lovingly restored and presented in reproduction sleeves and labels, on limited edition seven and twelve inch singles. Now, taking another step forward, Dub Store are more than proud to present Bunny’s timeless music on two beautifully packaged double LP’s.

V/A – Derrick Harriott: Reggae, Funk & Soul 1969-1975 (Dub Store)
Superb collection of Derrick Harriott / Crystal productions from the late sixties, most, if not all previously reissued on 7″ vinyl by Japan’s Dub Store. Harriott, dapper in his “Beatle” suit on the cover, began as a singer with the Jiving Juniors in the early sixties and expanded into production in the latter half of the decade scoring local hits with such stone classics as Stop That Train and Tonight with Keith & Tex, killer instrumentals such as Step Softly by Bobby Ellis and Illya Kuryakin by Ike Bennett as well as his own hits such as The Loser and Do I Worry, all here, alongside collector’s pieces like Junior Soul’s (Murvin) Glendevon Special, and Keith& Tex’s proto roots Run To The Rocks. Harriott’s productions were always clean, musical and among the best of their time.

V/A – Derrick Harriott: Rock Steady 1966-1969 (Dub Store)
Excellent showcase for the classic productions of Derrick Harriott between the years shown.  Harriott’s productions were always top notch, his Crystal and Move & Groove labels bywords for musical quality, and this collection contains much of what made Harriott’s name a legend in the business including Psychedelic Train, Message From A Black Man, I Roy’s Tougher Than Tough and the killer Junior Murvin Rescue The Children.

V/A – King Jammy’s Dancehall 1: Digital Revolution 1985-1989 (Dub Store)
The “Digital Revolution” occurred in the Jamaican music industry by a single rhythm called “Sleng Teng”. The responsible person for the rhythm was King Jammy who was the owner and producer of the Jammys label. The label dominated the scene between 1985 and 1989, and released a vast number of material. Dub Store Records compiles the best of the 80’s heavyweight Dancehall from the Jammys catalogue. The collection consists of “Disc One: Vocals & Deejays” and “Disc Two: Instrumental Dub Version”, featuring popular songs and instrumental dub versions on the “Heavenless”, “Love Punanny Bad” and “Far East” rhythms, among others. They also include rare collector’s tunes like Anthony Johnson’s ‘Dancehall Vibes’, and some of the tracks appear for the first time on digital format. This is a
crucial selection for all Dancehall lovers.

V/A – You Need This: A Journey Into Deep Jazz Vol. 2 compiled by Jean-Claude (BBE)
Catering for the veteran, the dance-floor mover, the radio jock and the young-gun just getting into jazz, If Music’s Jean-Claude returns for a second spellbinding edition of ‘A Journey Into Deep Jazz‘. Going even deeper than volume 1, this triple vinyl pack is one to truly lose yourself in, with several of the tracks running over 12 minutes in length – Sparrow’s ‘Latin Black Funk’ even over 20 minutes! The obscure gems contained on this compilation have either flown under the radar or remained out-of-print for many years, so there are bound to be fresh treats here for even the most obsessive collector. Dense without being over-challenging, raw yet enchanting, ‘A Journey Into Deep Jazz Volume 2’ is a collection of soul-stirring rarities to nourish the spirit.

Paz – Paz Are Back (BBE)
Capturing a group of prodigiously talented musicians at the height of their powers, ‘Paz Are Back’ features timeless original compositions from almost all the band members, as well as a unique cover of ‘Everywhere Calypso’ by Sonny Rollins and a truly frenetic, heavily improvised version of jazz standard ‘Dancing In The Dark’. A band who remained steadfastly resistant to being pigeonholed, incorporating a multitude of influences before ‘fusion’ became fashionable, Paz’s music stands the test of time magnificently, as evidenced by the staggering demand for original copies of this album. Remastered and packaged with the original artwork, BBE are excited to make the magic of Paz available to a new generation of fans.
