1 x 7" Vinyl – BS02

The BLUNTED STYLUS 7" Single Series just gets stronger, adding another two certified classics back-to-back on a 'Limited Edition' coloured vinyl 7" nicely housed in a retro-jazz design picture sleeve. Lazy Grey and LenOne are pictured on the back cover at the Rockinghorse Studios' Neve mixing desk photographed by Jigzaw.

FIZZ-LA is a perfect blend of the breadth of sonic ideas happening in the Brisbane music scene mid-1997. Stoner vibe beats production by Jigzaw Geoff, live indie band funk, well versed raps from Lazy Grey, all brought together at time when Blunted Stylus' sample arrangements were getting fleshed out further for the live stage performances of the rapidly rising Resin Dogs. Fellow band member Dave Atkins on additional bass parts here in ’97, with guitar and engineering executed by Geoff Cavanagh of P-Oiler, who recorded the session at Radio 4BC Studios Brisbane.

On the flip is RE-FIZZLA, Brothers Stoney (Lazy Grey and LenOne) are at their finest, with a stellar vocal performance captured via reel-to-reel tape then mixed over a Blunted Stylus production of quarter-note, down-tempo programming, manipulating audio-samples like building blocks. The recording and mixdown took place during the studio sessions of the Resin Dogs "Grand Theft Audio" album in 2000, a huge year for Australian hip hop, with the Blunted Stylus production of Re-Fizzla, “the heavy hitter, snare, hats n’ bass kicker”, making it a sure-shot standout of all indie and major label releases.

Both tracks were originally recorded on analogue tape, and have been respectfully transferred from the original mixdown recordings and re-mastered specifically for 7" vinyl by Hangmad Productions.
