On the new album Tropical Bass Station, the two sound experimenters display their musical skills with club tracks that reach way beyond the cumbia beat movement, with elements of Brazilian Baile Funk, Angolan Kuduro, as well as flirts with Mexican Tribal. The album includes some special features, such as the song “Tribal Amazonico” with MC Deize Tigronas from Rio de Janeiro, a bass tornado heading straight for the dancefloor! The track “Radio Africa”, performed by Ugandan rapper MC Tshila, is processed with driving beats and slick basslines reminiscent of dub step to form an explosive mixture. With the groovy, dub-infused and bass-oozing cumbia tracks “Amor”, “Colombia” and “Oshun”, the Cosmonauts sustainably fuel the cumbia digital scene with new sounds. The album also features 4 remixes. The young producer Makina from the Dutch capital churned out a remix of Tribal Amazonico using his “sound machines” (makinas). Also, newcomer Cero39 from Colombia is represented with his remix of Troposphere 5000 and Galambo brings us a remix of “Radio Africa” – a heavy African dance mix reminiscent of Elektro Soukousse made in London!
